Triumph Repair: removing tub on tr 250, cross braces, eye bolts

Question
In process of removing tub from frame on tr 250 is it possable to lift from the seat belt eye bolts or are they secured to frame, any steps or awareness to check first before removing

Answer
Sorry Terry, I don't remember if the seat belt lugs are tied to the frame or just to the body but you should be able to just look at them from under and see. I don't think they were attach to the frame at all.
I would not use them as a lifting point anyway. The body of a TR-250 / TR-6 is too flexible with it off of the frame. As are many roadsters. I like to just remove the doors and door strikers and make "A" frames to go from both hinge mounts to the striker plate on both sides and even add cross braces inside from the left hinge plate to the striker plate on the right side and another from the right hinge plate to the left striker plate and these "A" frames keep the car straight and the cross braces keep it from twisting. I usually make mine out of 3/4" steel tubing and welded to mounting plates of 1/4" steel plates. This allows me to do any structure work so the body stays in it's original shape. Using the doors to try to keep the body straight is a very bad idea and dangerous to the car. If you brace it the way I do you can lift it from just about any point.
