Question
on vitesse do you know how to get the pin out to replace a rocker arm as one of mine has broken?
i have taken the rocker shaft of the head but cannot see how to get the pin out holding it all together
thanks Jonny

Answer
Jonny,

According to the factory manual the rocker shaft assembly is held together with a "Mills Pin".   In the US we'd call it a roll pin.

In order to remove it you need to support the end cup so that one of the pin ends is pointing down into an open space.  Drilling a hole in a piece of pine and positioning the end cup over that hole would probably work.

Again, in US speak I use a pin punch.  I suspect you might call it drift (0r small diameter drift) that's the same diameter as the pin.  Softly tapping the drift with a hammer should push  the pin out of the rocker shaft/end cup.

When it's time to put it all together you're best off getting a new pin.  Support the end cup again (no hole in the block needed) and get the hole in the cup lined up with the rocker shaft hole. Again, a gentle tap with a hammer should get it all back together.

Cheers,

Jim
