Triumph Repair: 1976 TR6 zenith carb metering jet replacement, triumph tr6, british columbia canada

Question
Good day Howard,
I owne a 1976 Triumph TR6 with dual Zenith 175-cd-2 side draft carbs. My question to you is I am needing to replace the main metering jets in both carbs part # B20174/100, and cannot find any information as to the proper distance to press them into the carb body. I have used a digital caliper to measure the position of the existing jet wich is 1.375" from the base of the carb body to the end of the jet protruding into the float chamber. I am a licenced aircraft mechanic and this is not a difficult job to do, but I hate guessing on persise installations such as this. I have scowered the internet and have found loads of info on rebuilding or adjusting every other component on these carbs, but nothing on main metering jet replacement. If you have any data on such a job it would make my car 1 step closer to getting on collector plates and piece of mind for me that the job is done correctly.
Cheers

Answer
Hi Wayne,
Sorry, all my time at dealerships we were told the jet itself was fixed and not replaceable. The only jets that were replaceable were the adjustable ones and they were not pressed in but screwed in as an assembly. The metering needles were replaceable and only a few of them were not adjustable. I can only speak for US versions as that is all I seen and worked on.

If anyone reading this has any more info on the replacement of the fixed jets let us know.
Howard
