what is the proper battery and cranking power for the 1973 triumph spitfire 1500?  thank you,paul

Stock car?  No earthshaking sound system (other than the muffler ;)?

And running the car in normal temps (10F to 110F)?

The size 26 battery will easily fit in the battery box and has more than enough Cold Cranking Amps (excess of 500) for the Spitfire under normal conditions.

One part number I've seen is 26-5N

Keep in mind that it's a bit smaller than the battery box as battery technology has progressed quite a bit in the 36 years since your car was built.  It's a good idea to wedge put some shims in the box the help fill the space around the battery.  Wood blocks should work well.

And don't forget hold the battery with it's proper hold down.
