Triumph Repair: Adjusting TR-6 Door Lock, clevis pins, clevis pin

Question
The door lock on my 1976 TR-6 has loosened over the years such that, when I drive, the door rattles. There should be a way to adjust the tension on the locking mechanism to snug up the door with the frame. Can you help?

Answer
I suspect the problem is actually the linkage inside the door or similar.  Unfortunately, the problem is probably a worn bushing, pin, or through hole.  Pull the door panel, and the lock linkage should be exposed, and then you can move pieces to see what is ailing.  You might be able to put a rubber pad where the linkage is hitting the door frame, by looking for where metal on metal is hitting.  You can try new clevis pins, but if the problem is some of the pressed rivets in the linkage itself, if they have worn, you can either replace them, or drill them out and insert a clevis pin.

Hope that helps
