Triumph Repair: Intake manifold for Spitfire, spitfire, intake manifold

Since all of the Spitfire engines are essentially the same externally, will a twin SU setup from an early Spitfire fit on a later 1500?

Hi Ben,
I don't think the earlier (SU carbs) Spitfire manifolds will fit the 1500 even though the engine design looks about the same. I believe the spread is different. I'm not sure, so if you are trying to source an earlier manifold you should take a 1500 gasket to check the fit.
I believe there was a Euro or UK version with SUs that would fit. If anyone reading this knows for sure let us know.
