Can you please advise on  the best way to replace the speddo cable in a 1973 tr6 (with over drive)?

The best way is to pull the transmission tunnel, that way you'll have easy access to remove the cable from the right angle drive on the transmission.

It will mean pulling the dash support and at least one seat, plus the carpet.   

But if right angle drive gets damaged you'll have to pull the interior anyway.
