Triumph Repair: electrical, Spitfire, gauges

Question
I have lost all gauges in my '78 spitfire 1500.  I replaced
the voltage stabilizer which did not help.  I have power
going into the Tach through the White/slate wire.  After
that it seems I have no power to any thing.  The lights in
the gauges work just the not the gauges themselves.  Also
not working are the turn signals and horn.  The hazard
light circuit works fine.

Answer
John,

The white/slate wire is the sense lead (signal wire) from the coil to the tach.

There should be a green wire (fused power from the top fuse) which also is connected to the tach, and it also feeds the voltage regulator.

Since the gauge lights are working I'm guessing the grounds are good at the instruments.  Still not a bad idea to clean connections and make sure they're ok.

You also might check the output from the voltage regulator to make sure it's up to snuff.

Cheers,

Jim
