Triumph Repair: 1971 Spitfire Knocking, car mechanic, british car

Question
I have a 71 Spitfire. The engine was rebuilt 4200 miles ago. about 30 miles ago it developed a "knock" in the engine, but only at 3000 rpm and above. Below that speed its fine. Oil is fresh and clean, Oil pressure is right around 50psi after it warms up. What should I be checking?

Answer
Hi Duane,
The oil pressure of 50 PSI is not great but not normally an indication of a bad bearing. However, there are many things in an engine that can knock so you need to get a mechanic's stethoscope or get an experienced British car mechanic to listen to it to try to ID the noise.
