Triumph Repair: Rear suspension, rear sway bar, swing spring

Question
I'm restoring a 1969 MK3, I'm reading about the wheel tuck problem, can a leaf spring from a MK4 be used instead. I know there is a aftermarket rear sway bar available but I'm worried about the clearance of the muffler, any thoughts or ideas

Answer
Ron,

The factory solution for wheel tuck in competition is a camber compensator.  Joe Curry has a very nice write up on his website at:

Starting with the Mk IV Triumph did go to the swing spring in an effort to decrease camber changes with cornering forces.  You can go to the swing spring with the short axles and get most of the benefit, or you can fit the 1500 axles (1 inch longer on each side) for better geometry.

As to the muffler, I think I'd get the suspension safe then worry about fitting a muffler.

Cheers,

Jim
