Triumph Repair: turn signals, turn signal flasher, spitfire 1500

Question
QUESTION:  I have a 1973 spitfire 1500 today the turn signals just stoped working. Not even the green light shows up inside the car. What may have caused this and is it easy to but right.

ANSWER: Mark, The Hazard flasher switch supplies power to the turn signals.  Check for power on the green wires on pin # 8 on the hazard flasher switch. This power comes from the fuse panel on the fuse with the three green wires on it.
The power leaves the hazard sw from pin #7 by a light green w/slate tracer wire to the turn signal flasher and on to the turn signal sw by way of a light green w/brown tracer wire. The sw sends the power to either set of turn signals when switched to either side (Green w/red or green w/white)wires. The dash warning light is powered by either the green w/red or green w/white depending on which way you turn the sw.

Follow the power with a test light or VOM and you will find the problem.

QUESTION: Thanks Howard. 2 more things, where is the Hazard flasher swich located. and also if there is a problem with just one bulb would this knock out the whole system, Some body told me this is the case on old cars????

Thanks

Answer
Mark, sit in the drivers seat and look straight forward, the hazard switch in directly in front of you in between the speedo and the tach.
(unless you have a Euro car.)

Mark, my advice is free, if you don't want to use it you don't have to.
I worked for many years in several BLM dealerships and I was never been able to diagnose electrical problem by any other process than to just follow a diagram and test as I went. If "somebody" knows a better way you should follow their directions and I wish you luck.
