Triumph Repair: Oil filter cooler adaptor plates/sandwich., sandwich plate, aspx page

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have early TR6 engine(cr), it has early type oil can.
(1)Do I need a pre adaptor(what type if) for spin on.(2)Do I then need sep sandwich(to take oil cooler).Have read on site that all 6 cyl Triumphs should have 90deg' type.Is this so and does one come with temp take off point?

ANSWER: Most spin on adapters have a non-oil cooler fittings version and a version that has fittings.  Some users have taken a non-fitted adapter and drilled/tapped their own fittings.

The 90 degree fitting is needed, I believe, so that i remains clear of the steering column.  Where to put the oil temp is personal preference, most will put it before the cooler, to see the peak temperature.

Hope that helps.

QUESTION: But what type thread for the pre adaptor to engine block?   I believe that there are 2 types of thread for the spin on filter(if I need to change back in an emergencey) so I would want that pre adaptor to take the most universal of spin on filter thread.Which model of the pre adaptor would give me this?
Also my car is RHD. It follows that both the adaptor and sandwich plate need to be bought in matched pairs.
comment. Cheers,-DD.

Answer
Its a standard thread, not tapered pipe.  The exact diameter and pitch I would have to measure. The thread into the block I don't believe ever changes through the TR6 models.  There may be variations on the adapter that might have require different spin on filters.

I'm only aware of the one model available in most of the LBC (Victoria Brit, TRF, etc).  If there are other models, they aren't mainstream.  I've not ever seen a sandwich for a TR6.  THe limora site below claims to have a sandwich for a TR6.

Matched pairs?  I don't follow.
