Triumph Repair: triple webers on tr6, definate improvement, webers

Question
I fitted a set of triple webers, electronic ignition and full race exhaust to my 73 TR6.I have also installed a Mallory fuel pump at 4 psi. I based my webers jetting on a 125hp standard engine. The car runs well and sounds fantastic. There is a definate improvement on performance and espescially torque. It is a PI originall but when I got the car it was running twin Su carbs.I am running trumpets on the carbs. The problem I have is when the car is in idle (in traffic for instance) it starts to choke up. The smell of unburnt fuel from the exhausts is bad and fuel consumption is low. I have checked and set all float levels and every jet that can be replaces has been. Someone mentioned a while ago that the webers run better if I was to either advance or retard the timing. I cant rememer which. Have you any ideas.

Answer
4lbs I think is too much for the webers; I think 3 is the max people run, and prefer 1.5 or 2 if they can get a holley regulator and adjust.  You may be over powering the float and the needle valve with 4lbs.

I've not run DCOEs yet, so I may not be much help on figuring out how to tune correctly.

Sorry I can't be more help.
