Triumph Repair: Momentarily died, spitfire 1500, volt meter

Question
My 1980 Spitfire 1500 has been running great. Coming back from the grocery store, it just died while driving. I noticed as I rolled to a stop that the stereo lights were out, as well as the ignition light. I turned the key off, then back on, and the light came back on--and it started and I drove on home. What should I check out?

Answer
Hi Tom,
That is the same as going to a doctor and telling him "My arm hurt once last week but it don't hurt any more, what was wrong with it?"

Your symptom narrows it to only a thousand things. And since it is not doing it now they are all wiped out.

You could check every connection on the powers and grounds of everything that can shut the car off. (the thousand)

If you can catch it when is is dead you can trace the circuits down with a test light or volt meter but when it is working correctly all you can do is start at the battery and follow every circuit that can shut the electrical system down and check every connection and test every wire for a break in the harness.

Sorry, I wish I could tell you to go to a particular screw to turn and it, will solve all your problems but that can't happen.
