Triumph Repair: 06 Triumph America possible igniter box, electronic ignition systems, triumph america

Question
I took my 06 America in for the 12 thousand mile check up and had problems every since. They finally told me after having it down there twice for the same problem that they think it may be the igniter box. I heard from a friend that those things are notoriuse for coming loose. Is that true...is it something an individual could take care of...where is the igniter box located. Any help would be better than the help I've recieved from the local dealer.

Answer
Hi Sean,
All igniters in electronic ignition systems can fail but just to replace one because that might be the problem would be an expensive guess. An igniter failing can be seen on a scope but I would not want to replace one just because it might be what is wrong. Find a shop that has a scope and have them look at the primary of the ignition system to be sure.
It does not matter what the ignition system is on it still operates the same so anyone with a scope can check it.
Sorry, I can't give you a location because I don't know what an "06 Triumph America" is. You must be talking about a motorcycle. That does not matter as an ignition system still works the same.
