Triumph Repair: brake master cylinder, brake master cylinder, work bench

Question
I am trying to restore my 62 TR4 and am having trouble removing the piston
from the brake master cylinder. I have tried just about everything, but it's
really stuck. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Answer
Gene,

What you might try is to push the piston all the way up into the m/c and use some steel wool and parts cleaner on end of the m/c to remove the ridge of "gunk" that's built up.

Then I put a piece of wood on the work bench and hit the m/s open end down on the wood to work the piston free.

Cheers,

Jim
