Triumph Repair: Repairs to Triumph Spitfire 1500, chic doig, floor pan repair

Question
Jim,

I have owned my 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500 since 1984.  When I bought it it already had a few happy go lucky owners and was in a bit if a state.  I have had repairs done over the years but always quite far from where I live in Bath.  Now the passenger's footwell is rusted and I believe I need a new floor repair section.  Quite a tricky job I understand.
Can you recommend a good repair workshop with good Triumph Spitfire knowledge in the south west please? (The last repairs I had done by Chic Doig in Scotland).

Answer
Marigold,

Actually the floor pan repair is fairly straight forward, assuming the rocker panels are still ok.  There are replacement panels available from the usual suppliers.  Then it's a question of how to do the job... cut out the old rusty metal and either pop rivet or weld in the new panel.

As to shops to do the work?  I can only recommend a few shops in the Northeast or Southwest parts of the US.  No experience on your side of the pond.

You might check around for a local Triumph club and ask for recommendations there.

Cheers,

Jim
