Triumph Repair: Clutch, clutch master, clutch pedal

Question
I have a '65 TR4A and the clutch pedal is very stiff. I have changed the clutch kit, clutch master and slave cyl. with no change. Have tried adjusting the rod on the slave cyl. to the bottom hole and still no change. Can I install a different master cyl. to make the pedal easier?
Thanks,
Bob

Answer
Hi Bob,
By changing the master cylinder to a smaller diameter bore or the slave to a larger bore, it will make the pedal easier to depress but at a cost of travel. So it may or may not release when you do this. Someone may have put the wrong master or slave on your car, making the ratio wrong and thus making the pedal hard to push.

I have done this the other way on a TR-6 to gain more travel by installing a larger bore master which made the pedal harder to push but this car would not release so it was necessary.

You may make it easier to push by installing a smaller bore master or a larger bore slave but it will be a gamble. Have you lubed all of the components?
