Triumph Repair: Triumph Spitfire Rear Trunnion, cutting blade, triumph spitfire

Question
I'm rebuilding the rear suspension of my 1976 Spitfire 1500, and am having a heck of a time trying to remove the trunnion bolt. It's frozen to the sleeve and no amount of twisting, heating, pressing or beating will free it. I'm on the verge of attempting to drill out the bolt.

Any ideas?

Answer
John,

The best I've come up with over the years is to use a sawz-all (or similar) and cut the bolt on both sides of the trunnion.  Obviously you want to be really carefull not to damage the trunnion or the vertical link.

Use a fine tooth metal cutting blade, lots of oil and take your time and it should work.

Cheers,

Jim
