Triumph Repair: Pusher fan on a Spitfire, upper radiator hose, angle aluminum

Question
I had previously asked about a water pump change to remove the clutching fan.  After some research it will work.  That being said I also did some research on the pusher fan application which you suggested.  You convinced me so new question is there any how to sites around or maybe a walk through I can refer to.  Mounting seems straight forward with the exception of the "zip ties button" used to hold the fan in place.  Would it be better to make a bracket to fit or are the Zip ties safe for the radiator?  What about the temp. sensor where is the best place to put it and how do you move the fins around it?  Thank you for all the info. so far I'm sure I will be asking more as time goes on.

Answer
I have met people who used the "push through the radiator" plastic ties, and they said they have not had any trouble. However it still scares me so the last two MGs I have had I added a "pusher" fan but I made a support bracket in front of the radiator. Lowes and Home Depot have a good selection of small angle iron and even angle aluminum to make supports. If you have some tools you should be able to fabricate a good bracket.

The temp sensor must go at the upper hose. Both of the ones I bought used a thin sensor bulb that went into the upper hose and it came with a formed rubber seal to allow you to slip the upper radiator hose over the sensor tube and you could either put it on the thermostat housing or on the upper hose connection on the radiator. Either one works well as you need it to sense the hottest coolant.

Let me know how it comes out,
