Triumph Repair: 1275 crankcase venting, british car club, seal leaks

Question
my 68 midget with a fully rebuit engine has no crankcase venting at all except for a small hole 1/4" in the plastic oil fill cap so of course the rear scroll seal leaks. I have a Webber 2bbl conversion with no provision for a vacuum port. What do you suggest? should i add a pcv valve to the valve cover and get my vacuum source by drilling into the intake or should i just add a vent to the valve cover via a draft tube?

Answer
Hi Paul,
A draft tube is probably not legal but most any pcv valve would work if you have an easy place to drill and tap a hole in the intake and run a pipe off of the valve cover.
If you have a British car club in your area, you should be able to locate a valve cover off of an Austin engine that has the tube already in it. I believe the valve cover will fit from several size engines down from the 1275. And as I remember there were 1275s with the tube in them too.
