Triumph Repair: diff. qst, differential gears, rear hub

hi jim ... when i buy my 77 spit.. has a big noise at the rear end . like a click click when the tires are rolling . but only when is on neutral , and stops in any gear .. so i just change all ujoints on drive shaft and rear axels.. they are really damage . and now doesnt sound like that any more , but a still hear a little click click no matter if is in neutral or in gear.. it feels and hear that is still something loose .. what im looking for.. diff. problem, wheels bearings .... and another qst .. i have to change the diff. supports , wich is the easy way to changed.

If you've replaced all 4 u-joints (driveshaft and side axles) and you're still getting a clicking noise... it could be the differential gears out of adjustment, or the rear hub bearings failing, or a loose wheel.

I'm not sure what you mean by "diff supports".  Are you referring to the bushings that hold the differential in place?  The front bushings can be changed by unhooking the driveshaft and removing the front support nuts, allowing the front of the differential to hang down.

To replace the rear bushings you'll need to remove the long bolt that holds the back end of the differential in place, plus the driveshaft and front support bolts.
