Triumph Repair: pulley nut removal, sorry for the confusion, journal space

Sorry, but after I re-read my letter to you I noticed that I left out a key word.  
The transmission IS NOT in and able to create resistance.  Sorry for the
confusion and I usually proof before I send but it must be 08!

Couple of different possibilities.  Even without the engine locked via the trans it's possible to use a good impact wrench with the 1 13/16" socket to break the crank nut free.

Otherwise yoi can pull the oil pan and use a piece of wood up in the crank journal space to keep the crank from spinning.
