Triumph Repair: PWD switch, snap ring pliers, o rings

Question
While trying to disassemble the unit, it appears there are 2 c clips on the shuttle that are not allowing me to push the shuttle out. I thought they were the o rings but they seem like metal are are split like c clips. I can get it to move back and forth between the two c clips. I cannot figure out how to remove them as it is too tight to push them out. Do they just compress with enough pressure?

Answer
Ed, If there is a "C" clip on each end of the piston then I would guess you just need to push the piston in one direction to gain better access with a small snap ring pliers to get one off. If the piston is free, why are you taking it apart? The only failure I remember them having is the piston sticking and not centering so as to put the light out. Or the switch failing. There is nothing inside except that piston so there is nothing you can do inside.
