Triumph Repair: mirror, british leyland, triumph spitfire

I have a 76 Triumph Spitfire.  I have noticed that some have the square-type door rearview mirrors and some have the racing bullit style mirrors.  Was this an option from the British Leyland?  If not which one is the correct mirror?  My Spitfire has the chrome square style, but I really like the racing style.  I checked Victoria British and they do carry them and the description states will fit a Spitfire, but the mounting holes are spaced differently than the square type.

Hi Matt,
Most outside mirrors were installed by dealers and many different types were available. You may have to drill new holes to mount a different mirror. The only thing you need to watch is to see that the new mirror will cover the existing holes.
