Triumph Repair: TR6 - Choke Sticking, external linkage, calgary alberta

Question
Hi,

The weather has turned a little cold here (-2 Celcius) in Calgary, Alberta.  When I start my TR6 (1976), the choke seems to be sticking which results in the engine revving extremely fast.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

Answer
Kevin,

Hmmm... any thoughts eh?  How about moving somewhere warmer?  Nah... just kidding.

Seriously, is the idle staying waaaay up even once the car is warmed up?

It's either a problem with the exterior linkage or the choke box or temperature compensator inside the carbs.

Easiest to do is clean up and oil the external linkage.  Ensure that it's moving through it's full travel properly.

If that doesn't solve the problem then you're looking at a carb rebuild.

Cheers,

Jim
