Triumph Repair: ignition wiring?, electrical condenser, pink wire

Question
I just bought a '77 spitfire with a rebuilt engine and Weber carb. It ran great until one morning, It will only crank over. It sounds like it fires bought only with the starter turning the engine. There is a white/blue and a White/pink wire loose in the engine compartment, do these have to do with ignition? Where do they need to be replaced to? There is also an electrical condenser or something mounted just under the alternator with nothing connected to it, is this important?

Answer
Adam,

US Market car?

If so, the white/blue wire is the feed from the drive resistor to the distributor.

The white/pink wire should the the power feed for the radio.

The electrical unit mounted under the alternator with nothing connected to it is the drive resistor.  There should be a green and a white wire connected to the other end of the drive resistor.

Cheers,

Jim
