Triumph Repair: TR# rear shock replacement, rear shock, case problems

Question
I have recently purchased a 1960 TR3. I noticed the car had a list to one side and now I find a puddle of heavy oil under one rear shock. Relacemnt shock easy to get ... is replacing it easy also ? I have good mechanical skills, a flat floor and tools ... any warnings/advice/ tips before I get started ?
Thanks.

Answer
Tim,

Basic advice:  Good jack stands and make sure the car is well supported before crawling under.

If you can, take digital pictures (or even film pictures) before pulling anything apart... in case problems arise upon reassembly.

Lots of penetrating oil for a week or so before trying the work.

I haven't had to pull a lever shock from a TR3 but I have done it on a TR6 and it was fairly straight forward.

Cheers,

Jim
