Triumph Repair: truimph, british car club, roadster factory

Question
Hello sir,
I was replacing the dimmer, turn etc.. switch on my 79 spitfire 1500 when the windshield washer switch came apart it only has a few pieces but i am perplexed can you shed some light?there is a spring a small brass contact and the two main pieces of the switch.

Answer
Hi Clarence,
If your switch has come apart you may need to replace it as it is not suppose to come apart. While some switches may be repaired and put back together, it requires some skill to do so. You should try to find a local shop that specializes in British cars to see if you can locate a possible replacement. You can't buy pieces of a switch. Even when the car was in production you couldn't purchase parts of a switch.
Try to make contact with your local British car club to find a TR-6 owner as most have or know where you can find used parts.
You can get new parts form companies like The Roadster Factory, Moss Motors, Engel Imports, Victoria British and many others like that.
