Triumph Repair: brakes, cup washers, auto repair shops

Question
My dad has a 1966 spitfire and is trying to redo the rear brakes but is having trouble with the spring that is connected to the two small cup washers, is there a special tool to aide in his replace this small spring? He is determined to do the work his self, He is 83 and quite knowledgeable about cars, but this particular component is proving difficult for him, he says that when he gets one side in the other one comes out, can you help us

Answer
That is difficult to do with a regular pair of pliers. There is a tool that any tool truck that services auto repair shops will have. Some auto parts stores have them also. Ask for brake service tools and show them the cup and spring to get the correct tool.
