Triumph Repair: rotor arm, rotor arm, insolation

dear howard,
i had to replace the rotor arm (A.C.distributor) in my spitfire 1971 (witch i bought 8 weeks ago) every 2000 km.
now i wonder what is causing the rotor arm to loose its insolation. is it the coil or the condenser or ...?
i would be grateful if you or any reader could help me on this.

Hi Edgar,
Current looks for the easier way to go all the time and if it is easier to jump and burn through or over a rotor then it must be difficult to go to a plug. Make sure you don't have resistor plugs and check the ohms of each plug wire to specs. If it is burning a trail around the outside of the rotor look for a cause of dirt in the dist. Also possible moisture from condensation can cause it.
If it is burning through check the plug wires and plugs and try getting a different brand rotor.
