Triumph Repair: 1500 1976 triumph spitfire back firing, fuel mixture, dashpot

Question
My car started back firing last summer. I've changed the air filter and spark plugs. What else should I check and can you send me the firing order incase the wires got mixed up?

Answer
Backfiring is typically a symptom of the timing being off.  At the same time it's worth checking to make sure the fuel mixture is correct and that the carb dashpot is moving freely and there is oil in the dashpot.

Firing order for the Spitfire is 1-3-4-2, #1 being closest to the radiator.
