Triumph Repair: Windshield trim, auto glass shop, spitfire 1500

Question
Is there a special tool for installing windshield trim or some trick of the trade to install it? I have a 74 spitfire 1500, ordered new trim but can't get it on.  Thanks

Hi Paul,
There are special tools that make it easier to install the trim and the seal. Some mechanics make their own but you need to see some of the tools to see how to make your own. You need to visit a auto glass shop and ask about the tools. Some are not expensive but you may want to question them and decide if it is better to buy a tool or just have them do it for you. Tool trucks that service shops would also have these tools. Different kinds of lubes are used with the tools. I have seen mechanics destroy trim and seals trying to do the job with a screwdriver.
