Triumph Repair: TR-6 body off, plate position, iron water

Question
will i have to brace the body to avoid twisting when i take off the body of my TR-6 or should it stay straight enough where i wont have to?

Answer
Hi Derek,
Most who do that kind of restoration remove the doors first then make an steel "A" frame to bolt to the two hinge points and at the point of the "A", bolt it to the door stricker plate position. I usually make mine out of 1/2 in. black iron water pipe and weld plates to bolt to the three positions. As you bolt it in place make and add shims at the striker position so the body will stay in that exact position when removed from the frame. Some go to the extent of cross bracing inside also so there is not twisting also.
I hope this helps,
Howard
