Triumph Repair: Idle adjust for 80 spitfire, strombergs, bad habit

Question
Hi Jim,  I have a totally stock 1980 spitfire and having trouble with the idle settings. It has the auto choke and I have looked into how that works. It has 2 idle screws and I'm not sure which is the fast idle and which is the slow. When cold, it does get up on the high idle cam but as soon as I rev the engine the auto choke cam goes down to the slow idle and then I have to use the accelerator to keep the engine running untill it heats up. It also has a bad habit of dying at stop signs even when fully warmed.  I did try adjusting the auto choke unit a bit to see if it would stay up on the high cam longer but no help. maybe the auto choke needs replaced?  Anyway, any help on the two idle screws would be great. My next step is to take it to a qualified mechanic for a carbuerator tune-up if I can't get it set myself.  Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Answer
Edward,

You should have the water choke, if it's original for the 1980.  Correct?

It's a bit difficult to describe without pictures and I'm away from my cars at the moment...

Actually... if your local mechanic has worked on Strombergs before then maybe you're better off with professional help.
