Triumph Repair: 1974 Triumph Spitfire, hub brakes, triumph spitfire

Question
Howard I have a vibration comming from rear of my Spitfire. Starts about 45mph. Could the axel u-joints cause this? How hard of a repair is replacing those axel u joints? From the manualit looks really complicated.Could be driveshat too my guess is. Driveshaft doesnt seem like it would be hard to fix. But those axel u-joints look light a nightmare. Any easy way to change them? Can they be just unbolted and new u-joint fitted in or does everthing gotta be pulled out like the manual says? Thanks Jim Elyria Ohio

Answer
I never found an easy way to do them. The Spitfire is unusually hard because you have to take so much apart. If you tackle the job you need to remove axle, hub, brakes and all as a unit. I would have a pro Spitfire mechanic first determine that the joints need replacing first before you think about taking it apart.
