Triumph Repair: starting spitfire after 2 years, solenoid starter, jumper cable

Question
Hi there, bought a spitfire as a sunday afternoon hobby.  Engine turns by hand, everyting bolted on and connected, but car wont turn over, plenty of juice in battery and its rated for a stag, Cant think of anything short of swapping out the solenoid, starter and alternator.  Help !  Thanks

Answer
john need a little more info. do you hear the starter turning?  if the starter is turning but not the motor then something must be sheard in the starter. if nothing happens at all then the solinoid is probably bad. you could run a jumper cable from the neg post to the engine block. touch the other one from pos.  to the bolt at the starter (cable from the solinoid) be ready for alot of sparks make sure car is in neutral first! if all else is ok engine should turn over.
