Question
We ahve a Spitfire 1500 which has post/pre ignition and was overheating - we have replaced the thermostat which has made a diference to the overheating problem but I need to know how to adjust the ignition timing - do you move the clamp on the dis body or is there a special screw that I have not seen? many thanks in advance 'H'

Answer
Harold,

Which year Spitfire 1500?  There were several distributors used during the production of the 1500s and they vary slightly.

Most of them were held to the block by a sheet metal clamp that also allows them to be adjusted by loosening the clamp slightly, making the change then retightening the clamp.

Cheers,

Jim
