1975 triumph tr6 well this car is giving me fits yesterday it ran like a champ no hesitation no backfireing today I cant even get it started backfiring into the manifold checked all the plugs they seem ok  black carbon on them so I cleaned them still no start it sounds like it wants to but no way

it seems like it is still running too rich. the plugs shouldn't be black. in my experience when the plugs get like that cleaning them doesn't always bring them back to life. the original plugs were Champion N9Y they are a little hard to find but believe it or not I can go to LOWES ( yes the home center ) and in the lawn mower area I get RN11YC plugs for my 67 JAGUAR for abour $2.50 each you might try those in yours. take the air filters off and shoot some WD40 in the carbs(to act as starting fluid ) before you change the plugs to see if it isn't just a fuel problem.
