Triumph Repair: TR6 rear brake adjustment, tvr 2500m, mechanical linkage

Question
I  cannot seem to get the rear brakes on my TVR  2500M (all TR6 hardware)adjusted properly.  Specifically I have excess pedal travel even if I adjust them to drag signifigantly.  I know the problem is the rear brakes because pulling the emergency brake up a few clisks diminishes the problem.  The whole system was rebuilt/replaced and exibits no leaks.  I am running ATE Super Blue fliud and have pressure bled the system several times and found no air.  With the engine shut down to take the booster out of play the pedal is high and firm.  I have been the keeper of several Brittish cars over the last 40 years and have never seen this problem.  Any Ideas?

Answer
Rick,

When the system was rebuilt did you inspect all the mechanical linkage (m/c push rod, pedal bushing, etc) to check for wear there?  That'd be one source for excess slop in the system.

Other than that it's always possible that the hydraulic seals in the m/c or booster may not be totally fluid tight and there's a small amount of hydraulic "free play" there.

Cheers,

Jim
