Triumph Repair: 76 Triumph Spitfire, triumph spitfire, windshield frame

Question
Greetings fellow lunatics...I bought my 76 Spit in 86 and have enjoyed working to keep it on the road ever since. Mechanically, she's top notch, but last year a tree fell on her and totaled the original hard top and bent the left A-pillar post down below the steering wheel. I heated and pounded and heated and pounded and managed to get it pretty straight, but not straight enough apparently to receive a new seal and windshield (its so close). Question: has anyone heard of successfully repairing these, or am I just wasting my time? Do you have dimensions for the windshield frame opening or is it time for the body shop?

Answer
Tim,

If it'd been a 1970 or older car all you'd have to do is pop the old frame off and replace it.  Oh well.

I don't have detailed dimensions for the windshield frame opening... you might have good success posting a "wanted" ad on the Vintage Triumph Register website (www.vtr.org), someone local might have a "donor".  I know of one or two in Texas...

Cheers,

Jim
