Triumph Repair: Front Wheel Bearing seals, federal mogul, auto parts store

Question
I have a 1979 1500 Spitfire.  I would like to replace the front wheel bearing seals.  I have tried MANY different suppliers.  They all are slightly too big in diameter.  The car has racing discs (they have holes For cooling). The seals that came with the car are hard rubber.  They have the following inscribed on them:
"VICTOR ROC 47553 YTI" .  I have found one web page that lists cross references with Timken 3357,
Federal Mogul 3357, and National 3357, but these too are not to be found in any auto parts store or or on line.  Your insight will be appreciated.

Answer
BC,

The type of disc shouldn't affect what seal is fitted to the hub.  We are talking about the inner oil seal, correct?

It sounds like the P.O. got creative with sourcing alternative seals.  The original inner seals are a ring of felt with a steel retaining ring.

Take a peek at www.vtr.org at the suppliers and links page.  One of those suppliers should be able to hook you up with the correct inner seals.

Cheers,

Jim
