Hi David:

I. don't know anything about the master cylender or slave.

in fact I don't know what a slave is.  The master cylender has fluid in it,  at first there was no feeling to the clutch went right to he floor I loosened the line from the cylender let out some fluid then the clutch was hard. The master cylender was empty when I got the car I am not sure if the cylender was bone dry or not.   Thanks for your aswner.  I look forward to hearing from you again

Bill

Thanks

Bill

Yep, this can happen! your best bet is to (in an open area) put the transmission in second or third gear and leave it there while holding the key in the start position (have a strong battery) the car will buck and skip awhile but then the rust holding it will usually break loose. other than that you will have to take the transmission off and remove the clutch and seperate it . have patients and it might work. DAVE PS as i was thinking about this I assume the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder are in working order otherwise it will never work !

Answer
bill, get a book on the car. the clutch has a master cylinder next to the larger brake master cylinder above the pedal under the hood. the smaler one (clutch) has a metal line coming from it . it goes under the middle of the car and connects to another cylinder (slave) the fluid goes from the master and pushes the slave which moves the clutch in. given the length of time its been sitting you will need to replace or have them rebuilt. that is probably the whole trouble. once the two items are done. bleeding is loosening the nipple on the slave cylinder and pushing the pedal down like bleeding the brakes. after pushing hold down and tighten the nipple. push down and open the nipple, close and let the pedal up. do this a few times the pedal should firm up and you can see the clutch rod move at the slave cylinder i think thats more the problem than anything else. we'll see
