Triumph Repair: Seats, seat backs, bmw

Question
1970 Triumph Spitfire- just purchased, runs and looks pretty good. Problem- the seat backs will not stay up, they just go all the way back. Do I need to replace the seats, which are otherwise good, or is there some fix available that you know of?

Hi Dennis,I have a BMW that has the same problem. I'm going to replace the seat, and thats probably what I would say for you to do.you might get one from somewhere and then take yours apart and see what is broken it might be something that can be welded.My first Spitfire didn't even have the seats bolted down to the floor.Dave
