Triumph Repair: release bearing, clutch slave, hydraulic line

Question
Whats the best way to remove and replace without damageing anything?

Answer
Mike,

The best way is to pay a professional, and hold them responsible for any damage.

If that's not an option, I'll try to explain.

Since you didn't list the year of your car, I'll make this somewhat general, suitable for most years of the Spitfire.

1)  Place the car on a hard surface, preferably indoors
2)  disconnect the battery leads
3)  remove the drivers and passenger seats
4)  remove the dashboard support
5)  remove the carpet from the front of the car.
6)  remove the transmission tunnel cover.
7)  carefully disconnect the clutch slave and hold it out of the way without damaging the hydraulic line
8)  remove the starter
9) remove the bolts holding the driveshaft to the back of the transmission
10)  support the engine by gently lifting with a jack against the oil plan. Use a block of wood between the jack and the oil pan to prevent damaging the pan.
remove the bolts holding the rear engine mount (transmission tail) to the frame
11) remove the bolts holding the bell housing to the engine back plate
12)  remove the transmission
13)  replace the release bearing

installation is the reverse of the removal process.
