Triumph Repair: speedometer cable, speedometer cable, tr6

Question
david:
I have a 1972 tr6 in at which i changed the speedometer cable ,it worked till i hit 70 mph it broke.? was there something i did wrong? I put it to the trannie and locked it in as it is supposed to go

? john waste of 20.00 bucks

Answer
I think you did all the right things but $20.00 sounds cheap for a cable. did you get the cable and housing both? and I hope it wasn't a used one...see if the cable is in 2 pieces (broke again for sure)if it happens to be ok i've put a drill on the transmission end and run it to check that the speedo itself is ok . the only thing left is a little gear right there in the transmission where the cable goes in .hope this helped Dave
