UK Car Repair: wiring short, light fuse, lighting circuit

Question
I own a 1999 xk 8 and the brake light fuse has blown. about 4=5 days later the radio/C D player fuse shorted. I replaced both fuses and they both shorted again.  The car is used to launch a small boat on occasion and is often in proximity to salt air and water. Are these wires in the same harness or near each other.  Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
has the car got towbar electrics fitted? in that case I'd check the inside of the hitch connector for corrosion, this is a common problem for those who launch boats - if 12v shorts to certain parts of the lighting circuit the radio fuse can blow as the radio gets its illumination from the same circuit as the lights, I expect the brake light circuit is shorted to the sidelight circuit at the connector or in your trailer lights/loom or have a bad earth somewhere, check out the non jaguar wiring first at any rate.

Otherwise I know nothing of the wiring on the XK's I've only ever owned an XJ40.
