UK Car Repair: PIPER CAM SETUP, vernier pulleys, dial gauge

Hi, I was wondering if you knew which side (belt or transmission) to put the dti dial gauge to set the cams (cams must be set to 110degrees)? I have 'Piper' fast road cams (R16VBP270H) & Vernier pulleys (PULDCLIO) on a Renault 19 1.8 16v (1991 - J reg) engine F7P 704, petrol.

A step by step answer/guide would be brill.

Think it's belt side - otherwise, how could you put the belt on while looking at the dial?
But I won't just furnish you with a guess, I've sent this question to volvo300mania.. they know too much about the F7P :)

Should have a spot on answer in a few hours.  - I know nothing about tuning the F7P.
