UK Car Repair: leaking transmission hose, jeep grand cherokee, spring retainer

Question
Hi, not sure if this comes under your remit but here goes. I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 Ltd. One of the auto transmission hoses from the radiator has a small leak from the snap on connector. I tried to obtain a replacement from my local Mercedes/Chrysler dealer but they were not able to find the part on their system and so I ended up ordering a part, sight unseen, from the US. According to Haynes there appear to be at least three different snap-on connector types. The hose I received from the US for a 96 JGC has has an end with a 4-way spring type retainer which doesn't match anything I have seen. The original old hose used a plastic retaining clip to secure the hose to the rigid pipe. I am trying to work if pushing the rigid pipe into the new hose with the spring retainer clip is the correct way to connect them and if it will be secure enough. Once pushed together they appear firmly connected but I do not know if this is correct or If I am missing a part. I have uploaded some images to Flickr to hopefully make this a bit clearer.

Many thanks

Answer
Do you have the part number of the new part, also any part numbers from the old part?

I can check the dimensions/dynamics of both connector types and see if they really are compatible or not.

It does look and sound o.k. to me, but like you say best to know for certain.
