UK Car Repair: 54 plate Renualt master van indicator problem, cowling, steering column

Question
After turning left the other day my indicators would not cancel.
By moving the stalk nothing happens .
Now As soon as the ignition switch is turned on the  indicators will flash all the time, I have pulled out the fuses that are marked up for the idicators but they are still flashing !so have had to take out the bulbs.
Is it likely to be a problem in the stalk or in the wiring.

Answer
take off the cowling from under the steering column, I think you need to take the top off the column too.

Pull out the plug for the indicators from the stalk and the indicators should go off.
If they do go off it's a bad stalk switch - change the stalk: If they stay on this is a failure of the flasher unit. - trace the clicking noise, this comes from the flasher unit/flasher "relay"(err)
and change the unit.
